Specialized Care in Knoxville

Specialized Treatment for Complex Needs

Addiction is rarely simple. Our specialty programs target the specific conditions and circumstances that make each patient’s recovery unique, because cookie-cutter treatment produces cookie-cutter results.

Dual-Diagnosis Treatment

Addiction rarely exists in isolation. Our integrated dual-diagnosis program treats substance use disorders alongside co-occurring mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorder, within a single, unified clinical approach. Rather than shuttling patients between separate programs, our clinicians address both conditions simultaneously because treating one without the other almost always leads to relapse.

Trauma-Focused Care

Unresolved trauma is one of the most common drivers of substance use. Our trauma-focused track incorporates EMDR, trauma-informed CBT, and somatic experiencing to help patients process childhood trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, and combat-related PTSD. Healing the wound beneath the addiction is essential to lasting recovery.

Women’s Program

Gender-specific residential treatment at JourneyPure Knoxville’s Women’s Center provides a safe, supportive environment built for the unique clinical needs women face in recovery. Pregnant women are accepted. We were the first facility in Tennessee to offer residential addiction treatment for expectant mothers outside of a hospital. Programming addresses trauma, relationships, parenting, body image, and self-worth.

MAT / Medication-Assisted Treatment

FDA-approved medications like Suboxone (buprenorphine) are combined with behavioral therapy to create a comprehensive treatment approach. MAT reduces cravings, prevents relapse, and manages withdrawal symptoms, giving patients the physiological stability they need to fully engage in clinical work. This is evidence-based medicine, not replacing one addiction with another.

Frequently Asked Questions About Knoxville Rehab Programs

Common questions about our treatment programs, answered by our clinical team.

Residential treatment at our Knoxville facilities typically ranges from 28 to 90 days, with most patients staying 30–60 days. Length of stay depends on clinical assessment, substance history, co-occurring conditions, and individual progress. Our clinical team evaluates each patient continuously and adjusts the treatment plan to ensure adequate time for meaningful recovery before transitioning to our PHP step-down or outpatient program.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) combines FDA-approved medications like Suboxone (buprenorphine) with behavioral therapy and counseling. It is considered the gold standard for treating opioid use disorder by SAMHSA, the American Medical Association, and the World Health Organization. MAT reduces cravings, prevents withdrawal symptoms, and blocks the euphoric effects of opioids, giving patients the neurological stability to engage fully in therapy. It is safe, evidence-based, and available at our Kingston Pike clinic.
Yes. Our dual-diagnosis program is one of the cornerstones of treatment at JourneyPure Knoxville. We treat addiction alongside depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and other mental health conditions as a single, integrated clinical approach. Research consistently shows that treating only the addiction while ignoring the underlying psychiatric condition leads to relapse. Our Masters-level clinicians are trained in trauma-informed care, EMDR, and evidence-based modalities that address both simultaneously. Learn more about starting treatment on our admissions page.
Absolutely. Our outpatient and IOP programs at the Kingston Pike clinic are specifically designed for patients who need to maintain work, school, or family responsibilities during treatment. Sessions are scheduled during regular business hours Monday through Friday, and our team works with each patient to build a schedule that balances clinical needs with daily obligations. Many patients transition to outpatient after completing residential treatment, though direct enrollment is also available for those who qualify clinically.
Recovery does not end at discharge. Before completing any program, our clinical team builds a comprehensive aftercare plan tailored to your specific needs. This may include step-down to outpatient or IOP, ongoing MAT, community support group connections, sober living referrals, and continued individual therapy. Our 84% long-term sobriety rate reflects the strength of this continuum. We stay connected to our patients well beyond their time in our facilities. Ready to take the first step?
